The purpose of this study was retrospectively descriptive research to evaluate role of guidance for the preceptor and the head nurse, clinical education for the graduate nurses and role transition process by analysing the preceptor weekly feedback sheets. During the first 3 months of an orientation to a clinical unit in Ajou University Hospital which located in Suwon, Korea, graduate nurses and their preceptors used feedback sheets to document the learning activities of the graduate nurse, communicate the need for and evaluate of learning experiences, and plan activities to meet the continued needs of graduate nurses. Weekly feedback sheets from 58 preceptors were analyzed using content analysis. Analysis of results revealed that the initial transition of a graduate nurse to the role of a staff nurse was a dynamic and interactive process occurring between the graduate nurse and the preceptor. By the way there were graduate nurse conflicts of the preceptors, cause of responsibility of learning activities. Interpersonal dynamics among head nurses, preceptors, and graduate nurses affected the process of role transition. This preceptorship stimulated autonomy of teaching process and improved concern of teaching graduate nurses to preceptors and head nurses.
